Art programme highlights cultural identities of ethnic minority people in Sapa
The drum dance is a unique cultural phenomenon of the Dao ethnic minority people in the northwestern region.
NDO – An art programme, entitled “Dances on the clouds”, was held on April 21 in the resort town of Sapa, in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, reproducing the life and customs of the local H’Mong, Dao, Tay and Giay ethnic minority peoples.
The art show was inspired by the cultural materials of the northwest region such as the traditional weddings of the H’Mong people, the ‘cap sac’ (rite of passage) ritual of Dao Do ethnic people, and various dances.
The water wheel is a familiar tool in the life and production activities of ethnic minority peoples in the northwestern region.
