NDO – With a total natural area of more than 3,500 hectares, Van Long lagoon in the northern province of Ninh Binh is the biggest wetland nature reserve site in the northern delta. It is a perfect place for those who are seeking serenity.

By strictly following conservation regulations, the natural world in Van Long has been kept intact without any interference from human activity. Rowing boats are the only means of transport for visitors to the site, where they can relax in a tranquil atmosphere filled with clean air without noise nor dust.

At the break of day, the sky is stuffed with soft clouds while reeds along the lagoon are heavy with morning dew, the limestone cliffs hiding from the mist, making the scene in the lagoon quite poetic.

Van Long lagoon is home to thousands of rare fauna and flora species, many of them on the brink of extinction.

By getting closer to the core of the lagoon, travellers can admire imposing limestone mountains and magnificent caves, including the Ca and Ong caves.

At sunset, tourists can see flocks of storks returning to their nests, and locals in fishing boats on their way home.
